Mr Gould was a music teacher at Harcourt High and once told off Elena Hickson in band practice which happened at lunch.

"Finally Mr Gould, the music teacher, snapped: 'Elena, what is the matter with you?'[1]"

The quartet[2] he conducted was playing three tunes in the charity event at Thornleigh town hall. One of these was Grieg's 'Solvieg's Song' from Peer Gynt in which Elena played a solo on her cornet. Anne-Marie was a clarinettist in the band.[3]
